10th Conference of the Global  Network of WHO Collaborating Centers

July 23rd to July 25th, 2014

The Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development works together with the World Health Organization to implement and accomplish its programs and strategic goals. It is composed of 41 Centres worldwide, with the vision “Health for All Through Nursing and Midwifery Excellence” and carries out advocacy and evidence-based policy activities in every region. Among the actions to accomplish its mission, the 10th Conference will be held under the theme “Nursing, Health and Human Development” in Coimbra, Portugal, from July 23rd to July 25th 2014.

In this conference, representatives from all regions will discuss the millennium goals and challenges for the future.

Distinguished Lecture Series #8

October 9th, 2013 - 2:00pm Geneva time

As the eighth lecture of the DLS, Alex Molasiotis, RN, PhD, will present the  lecture entitled "Advanced Nursing Practice: the mistakes and the  opportunities". Professor Molasiotis is currently the Chair Professor of  Nursing, Endowed Professor in Health & Longevity and Head of School of  Nursing at the The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also the  Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Oncology Nursing. His research  focus is on complex symptoms and the development of interventions to manage  chemotherapy-related symptoms, currently focusing on cancer-related fatigue, chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting, and cough/breathlessness in lung  cancer.

The lecture will be held on October 9th, 2013 through the use of the   Elluminate platform at 2:00pm Geneva time.

Distinguished Lecture Series #7

As the seventh lecture of the DLS, Dr. Gilles Dussault, PhD, has Invited Cathedratic Professor at the International Health and Biostatistics Unit of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT), Lisbon, Portugal. He is the Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Workforce Policy and Planning and will present the lecture entitled "Nursing in the  European Union in times of economic crisis".

It will be held on June 14th, 2013 through the use of the Elluminate platform at 1:30pm Geneva time.

Distinguished Lecture Series #6

April 24 2013 - 3 pm Geneva time

As the sixth lecture of the DLS, Dr. Mario Dal Poz, MD, PhD, Associate Professor at the Social Medicine Institute at the Rio de Janeiro State University and who was Coordinator of the Human Resources Unit at WHO, Geneva, until 2012, will present the lecture entitled "Health education for the 21st century: challenges and opportunities".

It will be held on April 24th, through the use of the Elluminate platform.  Aiming to reach as many people as possible, two sessions will be held: at 3pm Geneva time.
